Miss Earth Competition Heats Up

October 28, 2008

Environmentally minded beauties have descended upon Manilla in the Philippines to take part in the 8th annual Miss Earth competition. The 85 “green goddesses” from around are competing to raise awareness of green issues around the world and they're hot.

This week the women were hard at it planting trees, talking to school children about the environment and partaking in the preliminary rounds of the swimsuit competition.

Jana Murrell is representing the USA in the competition.  The 26 year-old physical therapist, news anchor and aerobics teacher feels that people are the main victims of environmental abuses. She wants to win the crown and raise awareness of green issues in the USA. She hopes by doing so, the USA will become the leaders in environmental issues, rather than one of the world’s worst polluters. Her environmental goal is to push for the adoption of recycling bins in every home and establishment.

The next Miss Earth will be crowned when the competition airs live world wide on November 19th.
