AC/DC's Brian Johnson Peed on Sputnik

In a recent interview, AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson revealed that he made a classic rock star mistake while performing with his Australian outfit in Russia during a 1991 gig.
AC/DC was invited to perform in Russia after Boris Yeltsin saw off a coup attempt by members of the Communist Party back in 1991. Yeltsin told young followers he would host a concert to show his appreciation for their support, but the festivities almost ended when Johnson accidentally pissed on a Sputnik spacecraft right in the heart of Moscow.

AC/DC was apparently playing at an airport in Moscow when the coup happened. There were over a million people in attendance and they had 30,000 armed guards to look after the fans. Even with all this chaos going on, Brian just couldn’t help but drain the main vein:

It was getting dark then and I was bursting for a pee. I went outside and there was this concrete plinth and I'm standing there going (urinating). And there were these two guards who were really upset. Then the translator came out (to explain) - I had just p**sed on a Sputnik! It was just this black ball, I didn't realise what it was.

I love rock ‘n’ roll…
