Robotic Super Suit is as Strong as 10 Men

April 13, 2009

The Hybrid Assistive Limb is a robotic suit that can “expand and improve physical capability.”  No word yet on how long we have to wait for Doctor Octopus’ suit, but it's definitely going to be worth it.

What is particularly awesome about this suit is that it has a “voluntary control system” which responds to your intended motions instead of actual motions.

So, for example, if you wanted to jump to the top of a building, you wouldn’t have to start jumping for the suit to help you.  It would measure pre-motion cues from your body and start jumping you to the top of the building before your muscles actually fired.

So far nobody is fighting crime in the suits...because people are f***ing lazy.  They’re being used currently for people with weakened muscles and are going to be used in disaster/rescue situations.
