It’s official, people. According to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Eddie Murphy has been named as the host of the 84th Academy Awards, which will air Febuary 26 on ABC. After some buzz about the hosting opportunity for Murphy circled the Internet over the long holiday weekend, Murphy’s Tower Heist director and Oscarcast co-producer Brett Ratner helped announce the exciting news via an official statement. "Eddie is a comedic genius, one of the greatest and most influential live performers ever," Ratner said earlier today. As for Murphy, needless to say, the comic legend is overjoyed about the amazing opportunity. "I am enormously honored to join the great list of past Academy Award hosts from Hope and Carson to Crystal, Martin and Goldberg, among others," said Murphy about the legendary hosting gig. "I'm looking forward to working with Brett and Don on creating a show that is enjoyable for both the fans at home and for the audience at the Kodak Theatre as we all come together to celebrate and recognize the great film contributions and collaborations from the past year." This should be interesting to say the least. [Reelz]

Lauren Bush Becomes Lauren Lauren?

Lauren Bush married her longtime boyfriend David Lauren. The model and niece of President George W. Bush and granddaughter of President George H.W. Bush, married the son of designer Ralph Lauren in a lavish black-tie-meets-Western-themed wedding over the weekend. The bride wore an “intricately embroidered Victorian-style gown” designed by her father-in-law, while the groom wore a vintage “Lincoln-era-inspired tux.” Now that she’s officially a Lauren, does that mean she’ll known as Lauren Lauren? No. The 27-year-old recently told Harper’s Bazaar, “I think it will be Lauren Bush-Lauren. I think it's nice to have the same name as your husband. I am sort of old-fashioned in that way.” [ABC]

Madonna Rejects Fan’s Flowers

If you’re going to give flowers to Madonna, you better think twice about the bouquet you choose. A fan presented the singer-turned-film director with a bouquet of hydrangeas during the press conference for her new film W.E. at the Venice Film Festival. The bouquet was at first well received. Madonna thanked the fan for the flowers and flashed a toothy grin. However that delight soon morphed into disgust. The 53-year old rolled her eyes and informed the person sitting next to her that she despises hydrangeas. Madonna, presumably oblivious that she was being recorded, says, “I absolutely loathe hydrangeas. He obviously didn't know that.” Obviously. [New York Daily News]

My Chemical Romance Drummer Gets Fired

According to reports directly from the band themselves, My Chemical Romance's replacement drummer Michael Pedicone has been booted from the popular New Jersey outfit effective immediately. After replacing Bob Bryar back in late 2010, Pedicone has been apparently fired for stealing from the band. For real. "He was caught red handed stealing from the band and confessed to police after our show last night in Auburn, Washington," guitarist Frank Iero confirmed in a recent blog post. "We are heartbroken and sick to our stomachs over this entire situation," Iero went on. "The band has no intention of pressing charges or taking this matter any further than we have to. We just want him out of our lives. The people who play in this band are a family, and family should not take advantage of each other like he did." Rock and roll can get pretty complicated sometimes.
