American Jesus Comes to the Big Screen

British director Matthew Vaughn is set to helm a film adaptation of Mark Millar's comic series American Jesus. But Millar is putting his money where his mouth is and developing it by himself.Slash Film gives us the lowdown on what exactly American Jesus is all about:

The story follows a twelve-year-old boy who suddenly discovers he’s returned as Jesus Christ. He can turn water into wine, make the crippled walk, and, perhaps, even raise the dead! How will he deal with the destiny to lead the world in a conflict thousands of years in the making? Basically, American Jesus is Millar’s re-telling of The Book of Revelation from the Bible, set in contemporary times.

Interested yet? Fans of Millar already have Kick-Ass to thank him for, which Vaughn also directed. Looks like every comic guru out there is cashing in on the comic book-turned-movie craze. But will any of these films be worth their weight in celluloid?
