Bret Michaels' Face Ain't Doin' So Well (Now w/ Injury Pictures!)

After Bret Michaels was injured at Sunday night’s Tony Awards, the Tonys were quick to spread word that Michaels wasn’t seriously hurt. As you could probably guess, the people at the Tonys are completely full of it.

Immediately following the incident, there was a post on the show’s official Twitter page that proclaimed: “FYI: Bret Michaels does not have a broken nose, just a scrape from the scenery. Everything is a-okay!” and a spokesman for the show said Bret had “missed his mark.”

But today news broke that Michaels had actually suffered a fractured nose and needed three stitches to close a wound in his lip. And now a rep for Michaels is speaking out, saying the Tonys and host Neil Patrick Harris acted inappropriately during and after the accident.

A statement released this afternoon by Janna Elias form the Michaels Entertainment Group, criticized the Tonys for failing to warn Michaels the prop would be used and not stopping the piece once Michaels was hit by it. They have also taken aim at Neil Patrick Harris for joking about doing shots with Michaels backstage during the show. The statement also denies reports that Michaels was also joking about the accident immediately after it happened, stating his only immediate response was, “What the hell just hit me?”

Michaels’ reps seem particularly pissed that Bret’s condition seemed of little concern to the Tonys. “I feel had this incident happened to Liza Minnelli, Dolly Parton, or Elton John, the Tonys would have at least issued a letter of concern.”

A full statement from Bret is expected later this week.

Update!

Less than 24 hours after his reps released a statement criticizing the Tonys, Michaels has dropped a pair of photos showing his fresh new injuries.
