Apparently Iggy Pop is actually taking Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones's offer to join The Stooges seriously.
Jones offered to step in and fill the gap left by the death of Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton back in January. Jones recently told the L.A. Times that he and Pop had been chatting about Jones becoming an honorary member of The Stooges for some upcoming tour dates, and Iggy recently admitted in a Rolling Stone interview that he had indeed been talking to the ex-Pistol:
“I talked to Steve, and if I wanted an extra guitar, he’d be the guy to call,” says Iggy. “The group still exists. I’m not gonna tell you more than that.”
Asheton, who was 60 years old, died from a heart attack on January 6th.
