In the age of the internet and fast streaming video the celebrity sex tape has become a widely consumed commodity. Prior to this decade wildly distributed celebrity sex tapes were few and far between. If one did exist, you usually had to purchase it from a seedy adult’s only video store. These days you can view endless hours of celebrity sex tapes with the click of a mouse.

Unlike the past, the existence of a sex tape can actually help launch a minor celebrity into the mainstream. Both Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian can thank their separate romps between the sheets for launching their all consuming media careers. The sex tape is so much a part of popular culture that it’s know used as a marketing tool. Recently a Carmen Electra sex tape was leaked, though it turned out to be a promotional stunt for a Dutch clothing line.
