Anything Can Happen

This week the Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) weigh in on their thoughts on the "Burger Wars" and second chances in life.

Have you ever eaten a double cheeseburger from McDonald's?

Aside from the double QPC, it's my favorite burger item on the menu. In one word: delicious. Some years ago, I don't remember specifically when, but the power players of the McDonald's enterprise agreed on a solid business game plan: $1 double cheeseburgers. What a deal!

I loved the $1 double cheeseburger. It was cheap, good, and quick.

But out of no where, McD's pulls a fast one and gives us the $1 McDouble, which is a double cheeseburger, sans 1 slice of cheese. And how much for the beloved double cheese? $1.19. It's such good business it makes me sick. What an ingenious plan to save probably millions of dollars. It worked on me, and they got my extra change sitting in my truck's cup holder every time.

Then, like a beacon of light, out of nowhere, here comes Burger King to save us all.... a couple pennies.

The $1 double cheeseburger from BK! Flame-grilled, two slices of cheese and meat, this is what $1 should be able to buy me on the fast food market. They saw an open market for those who love $1 fast food double cheeseburgers and grabbed it by the balls! After keeping change instead of drinks in my truck's cup holder for so long, my straight up dollar would indeed go further to get my $1 fast food cheese burger fix.

But then BK decides to pull the exact same rug out from under us cheeseburger lovers that McD's did? Here they come with the Buck Double?! Anyone care to guess what the Buck Double is? Yes, a double cheeseburger sans one slice of cheese. You have got to be kidding me.

I have to send one giant touché to the fast food business kings, because I now believe you are all one, working together.

Yes, these are the things I sometimes think about.
