We might soon be seeing Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston pairing up in a romantic comedy, for better or worse. The rom-com is going to be called Pretend Wife, and would be a strange coupling of stars, though Aniston might go down in history as having starred in rom-coms with every working actor in the past decade.
The Hollywood Reporter tells us this:
The script, written by Allan Loeb and Tim Dowling and once known as Holiday in Hawaii, is being kept under wraps. Columbia is planning a shoot early next year and eyeing a release on Feb. 11, 2011, the Friday before Valentine's Day. ...Heather Parry brought the project into Happy Madison and is shepherding.
Looks like both Sandler and Aniston are going to play it safe with this one. It seemed like Sandler might start taking risks and playing more dramatic roles after his turn in Funny People, but that's not the case. As for Aniston, she might simply be trying to cash in before she's officially deemed too old to play these parts anymore.
Should we be excited about this or turned off? Guess it doesn't matter, 'cause it's going to happen anyway. You can't blame them for trying to make some cash, but it's doubtful too many people are going to want to spring for $10 tickets to this one.
