bySpike   March 26, 2011 at 9:30PM  |  Views:  |  Comment

WE ARE LIVE in Seattle for UFC Fight Night - Noguiera vs. Davis. Join us for the best play by play action, pithy commentary and spoilers! Yeah, there might be spoilers.

Look, you know how this works, but we'll tell you anyway. If you want the results of the prelim card, we got 'em for you. But there could be spoilers. You never know how many fights we'll get on tonight. So the results are here if you can't wait. We warned you though, so no whining, comprende?

Ok, are you ready? Not yet, fine we’ll talk about ourselves a little bit longer, if you insist. Don’t forget why we’re here people. It’s time to get pumped about Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos kicking off a new season of The Ultimate Fighter this Wednesday at its new time 9Pm/8c followed by Spike’s biggest new show Coal, premiering right afterwards. Check out the sneak peek.

Leonard Garcia vs. Chan Sung Jung

'The Korean Zombie' nails it with one of the best walkout songs I’ve ever heard in Zombie. It's a little harder to get behind Garcia’s Lil Wayne.

Round 1

These guys have a lot of hype to live up to and so far it’s looking they do not want to disappoint. Some early exchanges don’t exactly mirror the last bout but things are quickly heating up. Zombie lands a nice leg kick. Zombie gets a takedown into a north-south position. Garcia tries to recover and gets kneed in the face. Zombie gets full mount and Garcia gives up his back. The bell rings. First round: Zombie.

Round 2

Zombie lands a good counter punch. It looks like Garcia is trying a little harder to avoid punishment in this round. Zombie is doing a nice job of establishing the jab. Another wild exhange opens up, Garcia drops and Zombie is on top. Zombie is after the ground and before long, Garcia gives up his back. Zomibe has the figure four between Garica’s leg instead of around the waist but it’s tight. He can’t slip his arm around Garcia’s neck and the ten second marker goes off so he just cranks it across the face and Garcia taps with only a few seconds left. Fear is apparently a factor for Garcia when facing a Zombie. Bruce Buffer brings back the official decision and calls the submission a “twister,” which Joe Rogan later claims to be the first one in the history of the UFC.

Amir Sadollah vs. Damarques Johnson

Round 1

Another fast-starting fight as Amir looks for a head kick and slips to the mat and Johnson goes to side control. Amir is back up and catches Jonhson with a low blow, but Johnson isn’t fazed. Johnson is back on top and Amir is staying pretty busy. Back to the feet Amir is pressing the action catches Jonhson with a shot the rocks him. Amir lands a nice judo throw to get Johnson on his back. Amir is trying to pass but Jonhson has a tight guard. Just a the bell rings, Amir gets a good pop in the nose.

Amir is pushing the pace again, but Johnson is game. With his back against the fence, Johnson is fending off an onslaught. Johnson goes for a takedown but is stuffed. From front control Amir lands some knees. Johnson goes to his back and Amir pours on the ground and pound. Johnson is in trouble but he’s still defending himself. Amir gets to full mount and puts down some Jon Jones elbow to lock up the TKO.

Nice work for Sadollah, but he should really bring back the faux hawk.

Dan Hardy vs. Anthony Johnson

Round 1

A head kick from Johnson knocks over Hardy, but Hardy isn’t rocked. Johnson is in Hardy’s guard and Brit is looking for a triangle. Johnson is way more powerful. Johson tags him hard. Hardy is trying for a kimura from the bottom. He pops it out but Johnson’s arms are too long and he has no leverage.

Round 2

Johnson shoots in for a nicely timed takedown. Give credit to Hardy for trying just about everything in the Jiu Jitsu for Dummies handbook, but Johnson is just too big and powerful to give anything up. the crowd is starting to boo for what I guess they think is stalling from Johnson on top. Johnson responds by trying to cave in the side of Hardy’s face. Hardy doesn’t seem to mind. The referee stands them up. Johnson times another takedown but Hardy defends nicely this time. Johnson sticks with it and eventually drags him down with seconds left.

Round 3

Johnson gets the takedown immediately. Back on the feet Johnson has Hardy backed up against the cage. He eats a knee, then Johnson goes for another takedown and gets Hardy’s back. He almost locks in a rear naked but doesn’t get it. He moves to mount and locks up a triangle choke. If GSP has taught us anything, it’s that Dan Hardy won’t tap. And he doesn’t here. But that’s about all he had going for him in this bout. Fight Night 24 will see Hardy’s third loss in a row. It’s time for a win, Dan.

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Phil Davs

Round 1

Davis lands two head kicks, then goes for a takedown, which Nog defends but not before taking about 784 knee to his leg. Another takedown attempt from the former Penn State wrestler is stuffed. Nog falls backward but recovers before Davis can capitalize.

Round 2

Davis is firing off a lot of kicks and is using it to try and take Nog off his rhythm with a series of feints and misdirections but the veteran is too wily. Davis gets in deep on a single leg and finally scores his takedown. Nog tries to kick him off and stand up but Davis is too quick and takes his back. Not likely he’ll be able to submit Nogueira but it’s interesting to see this. Davis jams two knee caps into Nog’s ribcage to close the round.

Round 3

Another takedown. Again, Davis takes his back after Nog tries to stand. Davis still can’t make anything happen and Nog eventually gets back to his feet. Davis takes it back down to the mat. Davis is campaigning hard for a leg lock but there’s no way he’s going to lock that up.

Phil Davis will get the decision win. It wasn’t a Jon Jones-like domination but it was a decisive win against a grizzled veteran and a big step forward in his career. Phil Davis is headed for big things.

Thanks for reading and don’t forget to tune-in Wednesday at 9/8c for the season premiere of The Ultimate Fighter followed by the series premiere of Coal.
