The upcoming Paramount Network has greenlit “Yellowstone,” a new, original scripted family drama series. Written and directed by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (“Hell or High Water,” “Sicario”) and executive produced by The Weinstein Company with John and Art Linson (“Sons of Anarchy,” “Fight Club,” “Heat”), “Yellowstone” is slated to go into production for 10 one-hour episodes this fall, and will debut on the network in Summer 2018.
“Yellowstone” follows the violent world of the Dutton family, who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States. Led by their patriarch John Dutton, the family defends their property against constant attack by land developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park.
It’s a dynamic look at the high stakes of life in a new frontier, where unsolved murders are commonplace, land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world’s largest oil and lumber corporations. It is the best and worst of America seen through the eyes of a complex family that represents both.
“I’ve been fortunate to work with partners like Weinstein and John and Art Linson in developing Yellowstone and am grateful that it has found a home in the Paramount Network,” said writer and director Taylor Sheridan. “The show is both timely and timeless. As much as it explores themes painfully relevant to the world today, it explores the very essence of family, and how the actions of one member can alter the course of generations."
Paramount Network launches in January 2018.
