In the biggest ongoing soap opera-like saga boxing has ever witnessed, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. are at it yet again. According to a recent report from TMZ, Manny and his team are once more firing off some pretty large bullets in their defamation suit against Mayweather. New documents filed by the Paq camp state that he and his team gave Floyd up to 24 dates for the fight, but supposedly Mayweather kept coming up with numerous reasons as to why none of them would actually work. Manny also claims that Mayweather pointed to his intricate training as the reason why he was unable to nail down a date for the superfight, but all the while Floyd was seen at a number of nightclubs in Las Vegas and Atlanta. Sounds like Manny has Floyd by the balls on this one. Is this boxing or a freakin’ episode of Jersey Shore? Jeez.

Wikipedia is in Danger of Dying

Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, is concerned that the online, user-generated encyclopedia is dying a slow death. Speaking to reporters at the seventh annual Wikipedia conference, Wales raised concerns about the waning number of people who contribute and edit the popular website. Wales told The Associated Press, “We are not replenishing our ranks. It is not a crisis, but I consider it to be important.” Wales says the exodus of contributors is partly due to its age and success. Created 10 years ago, many of the original contributors have moved on to other things like raising a family, or believe there is nothing new that needs to be added to the site. To increase the number of volunteers Wikipedia aims to simplify the way users can contribute and get involved. Wales says, “A lot of it is convoluted. A lot of editorial guidelines ... are impenetrable to new users.” Currently Wikipedia has 90,000 active contributors. It hopes to add another 5,000 by June of next year to ensure the much valued Internet resource survives.

Scientists Combat Date Rape Drugs

Worried that someone slipped something into your drink? A duo of Israeli scientist has developed a test that instantly determines whether common date rape drugs GHB and Ketamine have been added to your beverage. Dr. Michael Ioffe of Tel Aviv University told Agence France-Presse, “You just dip it into your drink. It might actually look like a stirrer in the final production. It's tiny, very tiny.” Ioffe claims the test is 100 percent accurate and never returns any false positives. The scientists are also working to expand the device's detection capacity to include Rohypnol, or "roofies.” Ioffe is unsure how the device will alert users of the test’s results. He said, “We haven't decided how it will let you know. Maybe it will just light up, or a part of it will rotate or maybe it will send a signal to your cell phone because you want to be discreet about it.” Men who use date rape drugs, your days are numbered!
