Jeff Conaway, the star of Taxi and Grease, has passed away at age 60 after being found unconscious at his home earlier this month.
The troubled actor had been in a medically-induced coma since being discovered earlier this month. He had been in critical condition ever since.
Conaway’s manager Phil Brock broke the news on Twitter this morning, tweeting, “Our beloved client Jeff Conaway passed away at 10:30 a.m. We loved him as a person, respected him as an artist and he will be always remembered.”
The actor has long battled addictions to cocaine, painkillers, and alcohol. When he was found in his house unconscious earlier this month it was heavily reported that he’d succumbed to a drug overdose.
Dr. Drew Pinsky, who worked with the actor on Celebrity Rehab, said the actor had “suffered pneumonia and the effects of too much prescription medication.” He told People magazine, “There is no evidence showing Jeff died from an overdose. Jeff is another example of a pharmaceutical death from the overutilization of prescription drugs. Please continue to pray for friends and family. They appreciate your support.”
