Miss California is Gone

June 10, 2009

Donald Trump has called Miss California Carrie Prejean into his boardroom and uttered his trademark line, “You’re fired.”

Trump stripped the controversial beauty queen of her title for failing to live up to her contractual arrangements. The beauty queen was reportedly failing to show up to scheduled events.

Trump released the following statement:

I told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract with the Miss California USA Organization and I gave her the opportunity to do so. Unfortunately it just doesn’t look like it is going to happen and I offered Keith [Lewis] my full support in making this decision. Carrie is a beautiful young woman and I wish her well as she pursues her other interests.

Keith Lewis, a producer of the Miss California USA pageant also released a statement:

This was a business decision, based solely on contract violations. After our press conference in New York we had hoped we would be able to forge a better working relationship. However, since that time it has become abundantly clear that Carrie has no desire to fulfill her obligations under our contract and work together.

Carrie Prejean made national headlines during the Miss USA pageant after answering a controversial question put to her by blogger Perez Hilton about gay marriage. In her answer she said that marriage “should be between a man and a woman,” inflaming Perez. More controversy erupted when topless photos of the 22-year-old emerged online, a breach of her pageant contract.
