Spike Hire a Veteran
is proud to announce that GE is joining our Honor Roll of businesses and organizations that are committed to training and hiring veterans.
Today in Washington, GE announced that it will hire 5,000 veterans over the next five years and partner with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to sponsor 400 jobs fairs for veterans in 2012 as part of the "Hiring our Heroes" initiative. Partnerships like these are what is putting our vets back to work, and Spike is proud to be part of the effort.
Spike will begin airing a 10-second Hire a Veteran "salute" that shouts out GE's new commitment to veteran jobs, building on its already stellar record hiring veterans. This publicity is the promise of the Hire a Veteran initiative, available to any company or organization that is making it a point to hire veterans.
Going beyond hiring, GE is committed to helping veterans translate their military experience into civilian jobs. They will offer extra hiring training and services at 50 of their jobs fairs. The company will also renew its Statement of Support with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, which renews GE's commitment to support employee reservists when they are called to active duty. Together these efforts will help ensure veterans and reservists have the utmost support as they assimilate into the civilian workforce.
