Fun Fact: Restraining Orders Do Cover Facebook Wall Postings

January 12, 2011

At some point over the last two years, Minnesota basketball star Trevor Mbakwe had a restraining order taken out against him by an ex-girlfriend. In order to resolve the issues, he decided that posting some “concerns” on her Facebook wall would be an appropriate (and legal) way to handle things. Turns out, he was wrong.

“Minnesota star forward Trevor Mbakwe was arrested and jailed on Monday night for allegedly violating a harassment restraining order obtained by a former girlfriend,” The Huffington Post reports. “Police said Mbakwe was booked into Ramsey County Jail on misdemeanor charges after he posted a message on a St. Paul woman's Facebook page.”

Mbakwe was freed on $500 bail and told to refrain from re-tweeting the terms of his release.
