The Weekly Hump: Sex Makes You Smarter
Every hump day we’ll bring you a new fornication fact. This week find out why it’s smart to get more action.
Regular sex makes you more intelligent. According to German sex researcher Werner Habermehl, sexual activity stimulates the brain and boosts IQ. Habermehl conducted a study comparing the brain activity of college kids who had regular sex with those who did not. He found that those who were sexually active registered far more brain activity than those who were not getting it on.
Habermehl believes that the hormones adrenalin and cortisol produced during sex stimulate grey matter. “Sex makes you more intelligent in that experiences are collected that can be used later on in areas of your life not linked to sex.” He also believes that sex is good for boosting self-esteem (duh).
Another recent study shows that regular sex may make the brain grow. It has long been known that stress and unpleasant events hinders brain growth in humans. Researchers from Princeton University wanted to test whether the opposite was true, if sex (which is usually stress-free and highly pleasant) could make the brain grow.
In an experiment involving rats, the researches created three test groups: adult male rats that had sex daily for two weeks, rats that had sex once in two weeks, and rats that had no sex at all. The results found that the rats getting some, when compared with the virgin rats, showed an increase in the number of neurons in the hippocampus, the part of the brain linked with memory. The rats that had the most sex had bigger brains and displayed an increase in the connection between brain cells.
So instead of hitting the books, hit the bedroom.
