The new Thor film being directed by Kenneth Branagh got a tasty new addition today with the casting of Natalie Portman as Thor's love interest, Jane Foster.
The official press release about the premise and story of the film goes thus:
Marvel Studios expands its film universe with a new type of super hero: "Thor." This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
Portman is going to play Jane Foster, the nurse who is Thor's love interest. Chris Hemsworth (Kirk's dad in the new Star Trek) is going to play Thor, so we have a very interesting cast on our hands at this point. It's possible even people who aren't interested in the Thor universe will pay ten bucks to see this.
