Blake Lively is the Most Desirable Woman of 2011

Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively has been named the most desirable woman of 2011 in Ask Men’s 10th Annual “Top 99 Most Desirable Women” list. With more than five million votes cast internationally, Lively beat out Mila Kunis and Sofia Vergara for the top spot. This year’s list shows a changing of the guard in the type of celebrity women men desire. Nearly half of the honorees on this year’s list are new. Ask Men’s editor-in-chief, James Bassil, says, “This feels especially appropriate given that this is the 10th-anniversary edition of the list – we’re seeing the next wave of Beyoncés and Angelina Jolies emerge.” In creating the list, readers of Ask Men were asked to rate women according to attributes they seek in a partner such as intelligence, talent, character, and beauty. Elton John Thinks Billy Joel Should Go to Rehab

Elton John has dished fellow piano man Billy Joel a serving of tough love. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, John says Joel needs to enter rehab for alcohol abuse. John says Joel’s supposed alcoholism is the reason the duo has canceled many of their shows. He tells the mag “At the end of the day, he's coasting. I always say, 'Billy, can't you write another song?' It's either fear or laziness. It upsets me.” Billy Joel spent stints in rehab in 2002 and 2005 to battle alcohol abuse. Elton’s “tough love” hasn't swayed Joel or changed their friendship. Joel released a statement saying, “I've worked with Elton for such a long time and I've enjoyed our relationship too much to let something as random as these comments change my affection for him. Elton is just being Elton.” [NY Daily News]

The White Stripes Officially Break Up

It’s over, y’all. In a statement posted today on Jack White’s Third Man Records website, Jack and Meg White of The White Stripes announced that they have officially called it quits as a band. Jack and Meg stated: "The White Stripes do not belong to Meg and Jack anymore. The White Stripes belong to you now and you can do with it whatever you want. The beauty of art and music is that it can last forever if people want it to. Thank you for sharing this experience. Your involvement will never be lost on us and we are truly grateful." This is a very sad day for rock and/or roll. [Third Man]

Spending the Day Reading Where Teenage Boys Plan to Play Football is Less Creepy Than it Sounds

The nation’s best high school football players faxed in their verbal commitments as to where they’ll be illegally accepting money to play college football next year. Florida State had the top recruiting class, followed by a bunch of SEC schools with USC mixed in. It was an exciting day of teenage athletic exploitation. [ESPN]

Who’s Favored in the Super Bowl?

Apparently it’s the Green Bay Packers. Yahoo! Sports reports “A 14-4 Steelers team with a defense that allowed the fewest points in the league takes on a 10-6 wild card from Green Bay that barely has a running game. Yet the Packers, with only three players who have been this far in the postseason, are 2 1/2 -point favorites over a franchise that has won a record six Super Bowls, including two in the last five years.” [Yahoo!]
