Miss Russia has been crowned Miss World 2008 in an African-themed pageant held in Johannesburg, South Africa. Kseniya Sukhinova, a 21-year-old engineering student, beat 109 contestants to take home the crown. She said her smile and self confidence were the secret to her success. During the competition Ms. Sukhinova impressed judges by saying "I think I can help people, and I want to help people, and today if I walk away with this crown I will do that." Parvathy Omanakuttai of India came in second and Gabrielle Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago came third.
Now that she has won the crown, Kseniya is desperate to return to Russia and see snow.
