For a long time it was kind of assumed that Jon Favreau, the director of both Iron Man movies, was going to be the guy to helm the Avengers movie. Well now the man himself has defused that rumor, and he also confirmed whether or not Edward Norton is going to appear in Iron Man 2. Curious yet?
Not surprisingly, Norton is out of the picture for Iron Man 2, which while predictable is still news -- you never know what he's going to do until he actually does it.
And we can stop hoping that Favreau will helm the Avengers movie, 'cause he has finally told us that it's just not going to happen. MTV News gave us the skinny:
"They'll have to [find a different director], because I'm not going to be available," he explained. "It's something I'm being the executive producer on, so I'll definitely have input and a say."
"It's going to be hard, because I was so involved in creating the world of Iron Man and Iron Man is very much a tech-based hero, and then with Avengers you're going to be introducing some supernatural aspects because of Thor," he continued. "How you mix the two of those works very well in the comic books, but it's going to take a lot of thoughtfulness to make that all work and not blow the reality that we've created."
Is this disappointing? A little. But it's nice to know that Favreau will still be executive producing and giving his input. This has the potential to be one of the better Marvel movies, and no one knows how to make good Marvel movies better than Favreau at this point.
Any thoughts on good alternatives to put Avengers on the big screen?
