Forbes's gadget maestro, Glenn Durene, did a mockup for the new Apple laptop. He doesn't work for Apple, so don't get your hopes up, but the mockup still kicks ass. The rumor mills are abuzz with hopes that Apple will unveil a touchscreen update to their laptop line even before the year is out.  Durene's mockup is kinda old, but it's appropriate to tickle your fancy regarding the Apple buzz.  Check out more pics after the jump.

Submitting that the Macbook Pro is edging toward non-inventiveness, he suggests a radical design change for the business users who want (and can afford) an innovative, minimalistic solution to travel-computing.  It is dockable (above) and turns into a tablet with touch screen (below).

Digg commenters overwhelmingly hated this idea.  Heaven forbid somebody be wrong on the internet. They might have a point in saying that this modular design is anything but simplistic.  But, for a modular design, I think it is pretty simple.

Further, the Chameleon Effect suggests that as Windows gets prettier and simpler with Vista and even a dock application for Dells, Mac might edge toward slightly more complicated hard and/or software. So, it's not out of the question that a design like this could be in the pipe.
