Everybody remembers the guy who cost his team a win by screwing up in overtime. But the dude who flushes his school’s chances down the toilet in regulation? He barely gets a cameo on the local news blooper real.
That’s why Winter Springs High quarterback Garrett Etheridge decided that instead of taking a knee at the end of the fourth quarter - in order to send a tie-breaking playoff game into overtime - he would run around the backfield until a linebacker stripped him of the ball and returned it for the game-winning touchdown.
Can you imagine how humiliating that would have been if it happened in overtime?
