Anna Kournikova Plays Beer Pong
Anna Kournikova was on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night, and she used all of her athletic abilities to play what many define as The Greatest Game Ever: beer pong. Honestly, the best part of the video is when Anna agrees to play and then demurely coos, “I’ve never played before.” We will teach you, darling. Take our hands. [SportingNews.com]
Scientists Watch Meteor Explode in our Atmosphere
For the first time ever, scientists in Sudan actually watched a meteor enter into our atmosphere and explode in real time. Many have been seen after the fact – as fiery streaks in the atmosphere, but never has the entire entry been seen. And, like the little boys they are at heart, the scientists immediately ran outside to collect the pieces in the Sudanese desert after they landed. Then they came back and showed them to their moms and had a chocolate milk and a nap. [Gearlog]
Obama Harshes Our Mellow
After several pot blogs trolled the White House’s site for submitting questions to Barack Obama’s online town hall meeting today, Obama was forced to confront the issue of legalizing marijuana. How did he handle it? Not very well. He simply stated that he didn’t think legalizing marijuana would “grow the economy.” He offered no further reasoning, so we’re going to go ahead and assume he was too high to answer thoroughly. Evil Dead 4 in the Works
According to Empire magazine, Sam Raimi has already begun work on Evil Dead 4, which is possibly the awesomest movie news to come down the pipes in the past decade. At this point he’s written seven pages with his brother Ivan, so it doesn’t exactly sound like they’re burning through the script, but the fact that any progress is being made at all is very cool. Of the stuff they’ve already written Raimi said, “There's some dialogue. Ash being an idiot. Ash taking some abuse. Some character stuff and then some structure of Act Two. Just other possibilities for things that could happen. It's ideas, jokes, things we'd like to see.” No word on whether Bruce Campbell has signed on, though his involvement is kind of assumed at this point. Making Evil Dead 4 without Campbell would be making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without food. [Cinematical]
New Posters for Harry Potter
Source: Warner Bros.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is headed our way this summer, and until then Warner Bros. has posted a bunch of new character posters for the movie. Getting pumped yet? This summer will see the release of many cool movies, but Harry Potter fans are most excited for Half-Blood Prince. We’re only a couple months away… [FirstShowing.net]
R.I.P. Blender Magazine
Alpha Media Group closed Blender magazine today, eliminating around 30 jobs and reducing its portfolio of titles to Maxim alone. The April issue of Blender out now will be its last issue. The decision came as part of broader changes that also included the departure of Alpha co-CEO Glenn Rosenbloom and the integration of editorial staff for Maxim and Maxim Digital. Is this really a loss? [Ad Age]
