LeBron James May Choke in the Playoffs for a Different Team Next Year

bydavidbreitman   May 14, 2010 at 3:41PM  |  Views:  |  Comment

Fresh off his second consecutive early exit from the NBA Postseason, LeBron James must now decide whether he wants to remain with the Cleveland Cavaliers or use his mildly publicized free agency to go play basketball in a city that doesn’t smell like shattered dreams and childhood obesity. (Just kidding, Cleveland seems like a very pleasant town.)

After a crushing loss to the Boston Celtics last night, King James left the court for what could have been his final game in a Cavaliers jersey.

According to reputable sources and ESPN columnist Chad Ford, there’s a very good possibility that James will sign with a “big market team” when free agency begins on July 1 and leave Cleveland behind like a chubby ex-girlfriend before going away to college.

Currently, a sign and trade deal with the Bulls appears to be James’ best option to hook up with a winning team, but the lure of New York City and possibility of playing for the “Brooklyn Nets” may also factor into his decision. In case you want to hear more about his options, just turn on ESPN at any time throughout the day. You shouldn't have to wait more than 17 minutes before they start talking about the situation.

I personally hope James stays with the Cavaliers in order to finish what he started. Management has done everything short of pregame hooker procurement to help him win a championship and deserves some loyalty in return. (Oddly, he has yet to ask for my opinion, though.)

Plus, contrary to previous statements, Cleveland is not a barren abyss where sports dreams go to die. It seems like the place where a 25-year-old billionaire could really do well for himself.
