Beastie Boys' MCA Has Cancer

July 20, 2009

In a very recent announcement by the legendary artists, MCA (a.k.a. Adam Yauch) has canceled all scheduled Beastie Boys concerts and revealed to fans that he has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his left parotid gland.
In a new internet video released to fans, Yauch explained that “the good news is that they did scans of my whole body and it's only localized in this one area and it's not in a place that affects my voice."

Yauch also went into details of how he found out he had cancer:

About two months ago, I started feeling this little lump in my throat, like you would feel if you have swollen glands or something like that, like you'd feel if you have a cold, so I didn't really think it was anything…I talked to my doctor and he sent me to a specialist. They did tests and I actually have a form of cancer in the gland.

Yauch didn't know how long the tour will be delayed, but he apologized to "anyone who's made plans" to come to the shows. He will be undergoing surgery in the near future and localized radiation treatment.

We wish you a speedy recovery, Mr. Yauch.
