Pitchfork Blows it on Naming the #1 Song of the Decade

August 21, 2009

All-knowing music site Pitchfork.com has officially announced their list of the Top 500 tracks of the past decade, and we’re pretty much at a loss for words on what made the top spot.
The Top 10:

10. Arcade Fire - "Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)"

9. Animal Collective - "My Girls"

8. Radiohead - "Idioteque"

7. Missy Elliott - "Get Ur Freak On"

6. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - "Maps"

5. Daft Punk - "One More Time"

4. Beyoncé [ft. Jay-Z] - "Crazy in Love"

3. M.I.A. [ft. Bun B and Rich Boy] - "Paper Planes (Diplo Remix)"

2. LCD Soundsystem - "All My Friends"

1. OutKast - "B.O.B."

Look, Outkast's “B.O.B.” is a great song, but it is by no means the greatest song of the last 10 years. If they would have put “Paper Planes” at the #1 spot I could have maybe understood where they were coming from. Ignoring this website the next time they make some sort of "Top" whatever list may not be a bad idea. Being random must make hipsters feel so good inside.
