The main fault to be found in the films Nicolas Cage has starred in to date has been their lack of dimensionality, but now all of that's being fixed: Cage is finally going to star in a 3D movie. Drive Angry is a film about a man hell-bent on exacting revenge...in 3D!
The Hollywood Reporter sums it up:
Written by [Patrick] Lussier and Todd Farmer, the story centers on a man (Cage) driven by rage who is chasing the people who killed his daughter and kidnapped her baby. The vendetta/rescue spins out of control as the chase gets bloodier by the mile, leaving bodies strewn along the highway.
So this isn't going to be a mumblecore film where people sit around in cafes. Did I mention this one's going to be in 3D?
Nu Image/Millenium is the production company behind the film, and Patrick Lussier of My Bloody Valentine 3D fame will be directing. Will this be the next big thing for Cage or just a sub-par film that will make us rue the day he ever left two dimensions?
However it turns out, it does seem Cage has staked his claim on genre films. Keanu Reeves, watch out.
