Evil Dead is Officially Being Resurrected

According to reports as well as news from Ash himself, The Evil Dead franchise is being rebooted. Groovy.

In a Tweet yesterday, Bruce Campbell got horror fans buzzing after dropping the news of a new version of the 1981 cult classic in the works. "Believe in the remake, dawg!" Bruce wrote. "The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell." Unfortunately for die-hard fans of the series, original mastermind of the masterwork Sam Raimi will not be in the director’s seat for this one. Federico Alvarez, a 33-year-old filmmaker from Uruguay who has a deal with Raimi's Ghost House Pictures, will be stepping in as the film’s new head honcho behind the camera.

No one is totally sure what route Alvarez will take in reworking this groundbreaking piece of horror cinema for an updated audience, but if it’s anything like his robot invasion flick Panic Attack!, we’re gonna be in good hands, y’all.

What do you guys think about a remake of The Evil Dead?
