Mel Gibson Wins Big in Baby Mama Court Drama
Mel Gibson came face-to-face with baby mama Oksana Grigorieva in court today… and left a big winner.
Mel Gibson has been ordered to pay former lover and baby mama Oksana Grigorieva $750,000 to settle their very public custody battle. The settlement finally puts to rest the duo's bitter and ugly break-up that culminated in the release of private audio tapes. In those tapes Gibson verbally threatened Grigorieva and hurled offensive remarks at the –year-old such as "whore" and "gold digger." The agreement also settles a civil lawsuit Grigorieva threatened to file against Gibson.
Grigorieva is the big loser in the settlement. The Russian-born singer reportedly agreed to a $15 million settlement back in 2010, but rejected it once the audio tapes and allegations of assault came to light. Gibson recently pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery in relation to the charges of domestic abuse.
Grigorieva will receive three payments of $250,000 and be allowed to live in a house owned by Gibson until their daughter Lucia turns 18. That settlement also allows Gibson greater visitation with their daughter. Gibson and Grigorieva will immediately share 50/50 custody of the child.
Gibson solemnly addressed the court after the judgment, saying, "Thanks, your honor, for bringing this case to a reasonable conclusion." Grigorieva also thanked the court. Her lawyers later said, "Oksana settled this case today because it's in the best interests of Lucia."
