Mark your calendars, my friend. Today - August 2, 2010 - has officially been named Scrapper Day.
That's right, Brooklyn has set aside today as one to celebrate the best pick-up guys in the business. Why, you might ask? Well, we'll let the President of the Borough of Booklyn, Marty Markowitz, do the explaining:
Whereas, on behalf of all Brooklynites, I salute Spike TV for once again conceptualizing and bringing to the marketplace out-of-the-box entertainment, I commend them for recognizing Brooklyn’s stories as meaningful ones, using our great diverse borough as a microcosm of the world, depicting both the challenges and possibilities of life in urban America, I congratulate the cast of Scrappers: Frank Fidilio, Joe Posa, Darren Zerafa, Sal Vassallo, Greg Dakouvanos, Memmo Saldino and Dino Mininni, and applaud them, these no-nonsense scrap metal workers who have allowed us inside their world, to make us laugh, cheer and maybe take a second look at that old stove sitting on the sidewalk, assume the 'whenever' attitude, and eagerly await the next episode, I wish them many seasons of success on and off screen, and I thank Spike TV and the cast of Scrappers for firmly carving the Borough of Brooklyn onto the landscape of cinematic history.
What are you waiting for? Get to celebrating!
