Growing Pains That Last a Lifetime

by nathanbloch   August 19, 2008 at 7:35PM  |  Views: 38

One of my favorite sitcoms as a little kid was Growing Pains. For those of you too young to have ever seen that show, let me just say that Alan Thicke played the father and Kirk Cameron the oldest, rebellious son. A recipe for unparalleled bodaciousness, I'd not seen a father son duo with as much potential since Family Ties. Unfortunately for Cameron his career never outgrew those growing pains, and after a crappy line of direct-to-video and made-for-tv movies he sputtered out of pop culture's consciousness. Well, he's back, and, once again, has taken whatever ill advised project his agent sent him. This time it's Fireproof, a heavy-handed, Christian espousing lump of drivel about seeking god to heal your life's problems. Since when did god become Santa Claus? Anyway, check out the trailer after the jump--if only for old time's sake.
