Terrifying Deep-Sea Squid Monster Found

by Reverend_Danger   December 05, 2008 at 2:56PM  |  Views: 287

A mile and a half under the seemingly harmless surface of the ocean – deep in the inky terror where the unknown lurks – Shell oil company was driving a remote control submarine in the Gulf of Mexico when they uncovered an ancient terror!  Hit the jump for video.

The Magnapinna (or “big fin” squid) was only first discovered in 1998, and very little is known about them to date.  One thing that is known, though, is that they have creepy, human-like elbows in their tentacles.  Presumably, these have been adapted for choking the innocence and joy out of ocean-going humans for centuries.
