At the end of the fourth quarter in a Kentucky varsity football showdown, Butler High trailed a school called “P.R.P.” with two seconds remaining. Rather than field the final kick-off and gracefully accept the loss, this ambitious bunch of dreamers decided to lateral the ball a dozen times and return it for a touchdown. (Honestly, it was a bit over the top.)
Sure, it’s kind of spectacular and reminiscent of Cal vs. Stanford circa 1982, but wouldn’t it have been easier just to lose? It could have saved the crowd a lot of excitement and 37 seconds of time.
Just a thought.
