Jimmy Kimmel's Uncle Frank Dies

Some sad news from the world of late night television hit today when news outlets confirmed that Jimmy Kimmel Live's Frank Potenza a.k.a. Uncle Frank passed away early Tuesday morning. He was 77. Potenza served as the show's official security guard, a job well suited for him after a lifetime of law enforcement, first as a veteran from the Korean War and later as a New York City police officer of 20 years. He also worked as a security guard in Las Vegas and for St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City when his nephew Jimmy Kimmel asked him to move out to Los Angeles to work and appear on his late night ABC talk show in 2003. The show's staff released a statement that described Uncle Frank as "beloved by his co-workers and considered an uncle to all.” Kimmel also thanked fans who wished him and his family well in the wake of his uncle's passing on his official Twitter page. Best known for penning classic Motown hits such as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing" with his wife Valerie Simpson, Nick Ashford of Ashford & Simpson has passed away at the age of 70 following a fight with throat cancer. Even though they technically had their biggest moments at Motown writing hits for the likes of Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye, Ashford & Simpson as a duo also had success in the ‘70s and 1980s. Unique and creative songwriters seem to be a rare breed these days and Nick Ashford was one of the true greats. [Billboard]

Maryeve Dufault is NASCAR's Latest Lady Driver

NASCAR has gone through a rebirth in recent years featuring a number of very competitive and talented female drivers looking to take the checkered flag at several high ranking tournaments, and model turned lingerie football player Maryeve Dufault hopes to become one of them. The driver will make her official debut at this weekend's NAPA Auto Parts 200 in Montreal. She's made a name for herself not just for her looks, but also for her skills that took her to the highest ranks of the ARCA Racing Series where she made 12 starts and finished 10th at Chicagoland Speedway. Of course, she's been getting a lot of media attention in the weeks leading up to the race because of her past career as a model for the CBS game show The Price is Right as one of "Barker's Beauties," Maxim, the Hawaiian Tropic bikini modeling team, and as a competitor for the New York Euphoria in the Lingerie Football League. However, she's also been a lifelong competitive gearhead competing in open wheel and go-kart racing as far back as childhood and even doing stunt driving in movies, so she could turn some heads for reasons other than her good looks.
