Tiki Barber Admits Getting Divorced is Less Fun than He Initially Anticipated

bydavidbreitman   June 23, 2010 at 2:14PM  |  Views:  |  Comment

Several months ago, Tiki Barber decided it was time to grow up and start acting like a responsible adult. So, he left his eight-month pregnant wife in order to settle down with the 23-year-old NBC intern he was cheating on her with. Sadly, this was not the foray into mature adulthood Barber had originally hoped for.

According to The New York Post, Barber’s wife has requested alimony, child support, and legal fees that the former NFL star seems less than happy to pay.

“Ginny wants $150,000 per month from him in alimony,” a source close to the situation told The Post. “She’s hired a baby nurse to take care of the kids for $60,000 and Ginny’s legal bill is approximately $75,000 per month.”

Barber claims that these demands would eventually bankrupt him, seeing as NBC decided America didn’t want to get fantasy football advice from a guy who can use the phrase “Remember that time I left my wife just before she gave birth to our twin daughters?”

The currently unemployed Barber may have to return to the Giants back-field or work out some sort of switch-a-roo deal with his twin brother that will allow him to play defensive back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and collect some sweet NFC South paychecks.

Either way, there is a lesson to be learned here. Cheating on your wife doesn’t cost a dime, but leaving her for a younger woman can be shockingly expensive. Make a sound financial decision and just be a philandering scumbag. In the long-run, it’s better for everyone involved.
