The futuristic Nike MAG shoe made famous in Back to the Future Part II is no longer the most epic shoe never made. In conjunction with The Michael J. Fox Foundation to help create a future without Parkinson's disease, 1,500 pairs of the 2011 Nike MAG kicks will be auctioned off on eBay with all net proceeds going directly to the organization. The auction starts tonight at 8:30PM PDT and will end September 18 with 150 pairs of the MAGs going on sale each day for the duration of the ten-day auction. This is easily the most radical thing we've heard about all day. Gotta love the power of the Internet, guys. [Fast Co Design]

Google Snaps Up Zagat

Google today announced they are purchasing restaurant guide and review company Zagat. The move comes as the tech giant pushes into establishing a position in the local business market to take on the likes of Yelp, Foursquare, and Open Table. Google's Marissa Mayer, VP of local, maps and location services, said the company will "collaborate with Zagat to bring the power of Google search and Google Maps to their products and users, and to bring their innovation, trust and wealth of experience to our users." Tim and Nina Zagat, the husband-and-wife team behind the 32-year-old company, plan to stay involved in the company. Google did not disclose how much it paid for Zagat. The acquisition is Google's second high-profile purchase in two months. The company bought Motorola Mobility for a whopping $12.5 billion in August. [Washington Post]

Reese Witherspoon was released from the hospital this morning after being hit by a car. The Academy Award-winning actress was jogging in Santa Monica, California yesterday afternoon when she was hit by a car at an unmarked crosswalk. According to the police report, the actress "suffered minor injuries" and walked out of hospital with a quarter-sized gash on her forehead. According to Us Weekly, "The driver seemed to have not seen her because of a large tree at the intersection...[Reese] was lucky, because it could have been much more serious." The 84-year-old driver of the car was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Reese is now "resting comfortably at home." [People]

Dave Grohl Slams Glee Again

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has once again voiced his frustrations over taking part in the campy musical television series Glee. Last night on Chelsea Lately, Grohl opened up about his beef earlier this year when he went off on the program and creator Ryan Murphy. "I read somewhere that the creator of Glee, who I never met — I read something where he was kind of mouthing off about some friends of mine in rock bands," Grohl told Handler. "And I just felt like, you know, as a musician, you should be able to say no, should be able to say 'I don't want to do your show.'" Saving his best for last, the ex-Nirvana drummer let creator Murphy know where he stood on allowing his songs be used for mass consumption on the popular song and dance program. "As a rock musician, why should you have to say, 'okay Glee, take my song and turn it into a f***ing musical'?" I love this guy. [Huffington Post]
