French First Lady Teams Up with Woody Allen

February 19, 2010

Owen Wilson is broadening his horizons in terms of the directors he works with. He's recently signed on to writer/director Woody Allen's newest project, though scant details are known about it at this point. Oh, and one other thing: it looks like the French first lady, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, is also going to be in the film. What?!

Well, the first lady of France is definitely hot enough to be in the movies, that's for damn sure. But what a strange combination of forces: Wilson, Bruni-Sarkozy and Allen. The Risky Business blog tells us this about the film:

As with all the writer-director’s film work, Allen is keeping the untitled feature’s story line and characters hush-hush, and it’s not clear how big Wilson’s role is. In November, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, France’s first lady, mentioned that Allen had seduced her into taking a role in the film, though the writer-director’s camp would not confirm.

So at this point, it sounds like no one knows anything about anything. Hopefully that will change soon. Maybe the wife of Gordon Brown will get a part, too?

You have to admit it, though, this is one of the most intriguing projects Allen has lined up in a long time. Someone get Michelle Obama a script. She can probably act circles around the French first lady.
