Paris Hilton was awoken this morning by a bipolar, knife-wielding criminal trying to break into her Hollywood home. How did she react? Find out after the jump.
The heiress naturally took to Twitter to deal with this scary and possibly life-threatening encounter. She tweeted, “So Scary, just got woken up to a guy trying to break into my house holding 2 big knifes. Cops are here arresting him." Trust her to turn possible personal danger into publicity. She also posted a picture of the suspect being arrested (see below).
As expected, Hilton’s people continued to milk the news story and released a long-winded and dramatic statement:
I can confirm that in the early hours of this morning an armed man with two kitchen knives attempted to break in to Paris Hilton's home when she was sleeping. The security cameras and alarm system were alerted, and the police immediately came to the house and arrested the intruder who was attempting to break a window when they arrived. Paris is naturally shaken by the events but is unharmed and well. She is very thankful to her security team and the police for their swift and diligent response.
Now before you think it was purely a publicity stunt, police did confirm that a man was arrested at Paris’ house this morning and that he was indeed carrying two kitchen knives. The man, Nathan Lee Parada, 31, has a criminal record and was arrested last week for stealing $14,000 worth of jewelry from Kohl's. It is unknown whether Parada was targeting Hilton or if it was just a lucky (and publicity-rich) coincidence.
