The rumors about the Arrested Development movie have been many and, by and large, pretty inaccurrate. One star from the show says one thing, another says another, and at the end of the day none of them came to fruition. Why? If any of these rumors are true, it's because Michael Cera has refused to commit to the project. But now news has surfaced that the youngest, most awkward of the Bluth family -- George Michael -- has agreed to sign onto the film.
E! online reports:
Cera had been the lone holdout among the show's stars for several weeks. All other Bluths, including Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Jessica Walter, Jeffrey Tambor and David Cross, are already game, according to sources.
So when exactly will the movie happen?
According to insiders, the movie may go as early as the end of the year, if they can put it together in time. I'm told Mitchell Hurwitz is writing and directing the script, and Fox Searchlight is the studio.
And that's about all we're probably going to hear for awhile since, according to Ron Howard, "It's looking very much like we're going to make [the movie], but we've now been asked to stop offering any details." Arrested Development fans, unite!
Someone needs to send Michael Cera a gift basket, post-haste!
