Mantenna - Friday, October 10

Shocking news about a new celebrity sex tape, an exclusive peek at Robert Downey, Jr. as Sherlock Holmes, and a cool new app for the iPhone that lets you make your own music...all this and much more are after the jump in today's installment of Mantenna!

Roseanne has a Sex Tape

In news that you hoped you never hear, Roseanne Barr has a sex tape and it may be leaked. Roseanne wrote on her blog that she is offering $25,000 for its return ("unless someone would like to distribute it - then I am willing to deal"). *Shudder* Let’s hope this is a shallow cry for attention. If it’s not, then hopefully someone hands it in and saves all of humanity. [Roseanne World]

Britney Tries a Comeback

Britney Spears is in full comeback mode. Tonight, the music video for her new single "Womanizer" will debut on ABC’s 20/20. Next month, a 90-minute special titled “Britney: For The Record” will play on MTV. The special is scheduled to air November 30th, two days before the release of her new album Circus. In a sneak peak, Britney talks about her life over the last two years. In it she says "I've been through a lot in the past two or three years, and there's a lot that people don't know." She goes on to say "I sit there and I look back and I'm like, 'I'm a smart person. What the hell was I thinking?'" We can’t wait to find out. [Buzzfeed]

Seth Rogen Goes for Laugh with Cancer

image

Seth Rogen is going to co-star and produce I’m With Cancer with his friend and writing partner Evan Goldberg. I’m With Cancer is an autobiographical script based on Will Reiser’s struggle with cancer during his 20s. Reiser produced for both Da Ali G Show and Best Week Ever. If anyone can make a movie about cancer funny, let’s hope it’s Rogen and Goldberg. [Hollywood Reporter]

First Image of Sherlock Holmes Hits the Net

A lot of people are really excited about Robert Downey, Jr. taking up the part of Sherlock Holmes in the new movie about the uber-detective. As of yet not much news has surfaced about the film, but we know have confirmation of a Holmes sighting. For all you die-hard Holmes fans, try to hold back your disappointment when you see that Holmes isn’t sporting any pipe whatsoever. This is Downey we’re talking about here. He probably has a syringe in his pocket. [Just Jared]

Velvet Revolver Searches for New Frontman

image

In an interview with Rolling Stone, rock guitar icon Slash lets us in on Velvet Revolver’s search for a new front man to replace Scott Weiland in the coming months.  He says they’ve been writing a lot, but are looking for a singer that’s heavier. “Things fell short” with Scott, says Slash, and now they’re auditioning more singers who hopefully “like with any musician…manage to get those magical moments.” [Rolling Stone]

Microsoft says No Blu-ray for Xbox 360

Contrary to rumors espoused across the interwebz (including here on Mantenna) Microsoft will not be offering an external Blu-ray drive for the XBox 360 system anytime in the foreseeable future.  This might be a smart decision for them as, basically, the only reason to add Blu-ray is to compete with PS3. Which, ya know, isn’t that important anymore. [Gametrailers]

Bloom App turns iPhone into an Instrument

image

Described as “part instrument, part composition, and part artwork…,” Bloom consists of floating, semi-opaque circles that you can tap.  This elicits varying tones which are then automatically looped into what often turns out as sort of ambient electronica.  Best used when, high as f***. [Spike]
