Charlie Sheen joins Twitter, Dancing with the Stars is lacking in the stars department, and Steve Jobs is denied Knighthood by a grumpy British Prime Minister… I feel the need- the need for the Mantenna!

Steve Jobs Was Almost a British Knight

Apple founder and CEO Steve Jobs could have been a Sir if it wasn’t for former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. According to the UK’s The Telegraph, the iPad creator was “put forward for the honor by the Member of Parliament for services to technology” and for his contribution to the tech sector. Jobs reached the final stages of approval but was rejected by the Prime Minister’s office. The Telegraph reports that Prime Minister Brown refused to knight Jobs because he was upset that the Apple founder refused to speak at the Labour Party’s annual conference. Jobs’ rival Microsoft’s Bill Gates, was awarded an honorary knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II in 2005. [CNET]

Dancing with the Stars is Heavy on the Dancing, Light on the Stars

Next season’s lineup for Dancing with the Stars was announced today. Naturally, this led to many questions. Chief amongst them was “Wait, who are these people?” The biggest problem with the 11 contestants of the dance competition: Where are the actual "stars"? Many bloggers are complaining that the lineup is hardly a must-see. The cast includes Fat Actress Kirstie Alley, former boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, TV talk-show host Wendy Williams, the original Karate Kid Ralph Macchio, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward, and Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson,” reports Yahoo! “The new cycle includes outliers that will hardly be recognizable to most viewers -- such as "Psycho" Mike Catherwood, a co-host of the radio program Loveline. Also competing this season is the rap artist Romeo, newbie Disney Channel actor Chelsea Kane, supermodel Petra Nemcova, and wrestler Chris Jericho.” Yes, where are the stars indeed? [Yahoo!]

In case you don’t own a television, radio, or water cooler, you can now fire up the Interweb in order to listen to Charlie Sheen’s intriguing world views. According to the Huffington Post “The embattled Two and a Half Men star, whose wild interviews have captivated the nation, has joined Twitter. The account name, @CharlieSheen, is officially verified and thus official. And it's set the social networking service on fire. Sheen's follower count, aided by tweets from major media figures and regular Twitter users alike, has skyrocketed at astronomical rates, gaining at one point 4,812 followers in 60 seconds.” [Huffington Post]

Christina Aguilera Arrested

Christina Aguilera was arrested early this morning for public intoxication after a night of drinking. The arrest occurred after Aguilera’s boyfriend Matthew Rutler was pulled over and arrested for a DUI. Law enforcement noticed Aguilera was too intoxicated to drive herself home and was charged with a misdemeanor for her own safety. According to Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore, “It's not illegal to be drunk as a passenger, but when the deputies realized she was intoxicated and couldn't drive herself home, they had to take her in for her own safety. She was cooperative. She was not belligerent in any way.” Don’t expect Aguilera to have to face court or jail time, as the Sheriff’s department says they will not prosecute the charge.
