Laika, the Portland, Oregon-based animation studio that created the hit film Coraline, has its next movie lined up. The movie is called Little White Lie and is being written by Chris McCoy and Jan Pinkava. Pinkava is an animation vet, having been involved in Monsters, Inc., Toy Story 2 and others.
Pinkava will be directing Little White Lie, which The Hollywood Reporter tells us a little more about:
Lie stems from an original idea by Pinkava, who has a story credit on Pixar's Ratatouille, which he co-directed. Pinkava also will direct White Lie...Pinkava, who won an Oscar for the animated short film Geri's Game in 1997, also has worked on the Pixar movies Monsters, Inc., Toy Story 2, and A Bug's Life.
It would be nice to find out what director Henry Selick is up to these days. He directed Coraline, as well as The Nightmare Before Christmas. But it's good to know that Laika is still going strong even after they cut their computer animation division, a change that caused more than 120 employees to lose their jobs.
Hopefully Selick will continue to work on Laika movies, even if he isn't officially a member of the company.
So how about some info about Little White Lie? A trailer would be cool, too.
