Spike and the UFC have confirmed two fights for The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights finale December 5, live and free on Spike.
Undefeated Jon “Bones” Jones will take on Matt Hamill and Frankie Edgar will fight Kurt Pellegrino to fill out the co-features of the night.
One of the most athletically gifted fighters in the UFC, “Bones” is being called the next big thing. Since debuting in the UFC in August of 2008, he’s steadily rose through the ranks, besting every opponent set in front of him. A win over an Ultimate Fighter alum like Hamill might prove that he’s ready to take a step up in competition and make his push to the top of the heap, but Hamill won’t sit back and let anyone use him as a stepping stone without a fight. Hamill, at 10-2, is one of the toughest fighters the UFC has ever seen and every time he steps inside the Octagon he puts on a display of heart that almost always makes me look down in shame upon my Cheetos-stained tee shirt, stretched tightly over my growing beer belly – almost always.
The lightweight match-up between Edgar and Pellegrino features two veteran fighters who are both coming off very big, impressive wins over Sean Sherk and Josh Neer, respectively. The lightweight division remains one of the UFC’s most competitive, but a win here will go a long way in separating a true contender.
