From Dallas, TX the official weigh-ins are on the books. UFC 103 airs live on pay-per-view Saturday night at 10 p.m. ET, but undercard fights will air live, free and without commercial break on Spike TV at 9ET/6PT.
It felt like Night of the Living Dead with guys like Vladimir Matyushenko, Frank Trigg and Vitor Belfort back under the UFC banner… and looking great. Matyushenko remains one of the scariest men alive. Coming in with his trademark workmanlike attitude, he walked his expressionless face up the stairs, onto the scales and into the photo-op stare down, barely noticing the hundreds of screaming fans. He gives you the impression that he could snap at any moment and literally kill you with his bare hands for no reason. And it would just be another Tuesday for the Russian.
Frank Trigg is like a little chuck of steel. HIs fight with Josh Koscheck is going to be great. Belfort and Efrain Escudero were both a little heavy on the first try but made weight the second time around. Hermes Franca couldn't make the weight, so Tyson Griffin agreed to fight him at a catch wieght of 159. Rich Franklin cruised in, which was kind of surprising considering it looked like he was carrying Goldmember’s goldmember in his skivvies. Even more surprising, he made a point of acknowledging his mega-huge package to Dana White. Everything’s bigger in Texas, I guess.
