Admittedly, aeronautic engineering is only something I dabble in – I’m far from a professional – but the props-under-your-own-feet design seems like it’s tempting fate.
Parts of the design are quite clever. Instead of using a tail rotor to counteract the torque produced by the main rotor, the Aeroquad just adds another main rotor that spins in the opposite direction to stabilize the craft.
That’d be pretty cool if there weren’t constantly a disc of whirling death inches from your toes.
The AeroQuad can apparently fly one person around for about five hours, which would make it an excellent vehicle for patrolling boarders or remote rescue situations. Again, this would be true if you didn’t have a G.D. heart attack flying this thing.
