Sexy women like Marilyn Monroe may have a powerful sex hormone that makes them more likely to cheat, a new study has revealed. Women with a high level of estradiol, dubbed the “Marilyn Monroe hormone,” are more sexually attractive but less satisfied and committed to their partner.
The hormone, which is a form of estrogen, is “associated with having a symmetrical face, large breasts and a low waist-to-hip ratio.” A study undertaken by the University of Texas tested the estradiol levels of 52 women, aged 17–30. The women were asked about their perceived desirability, sexual motivations and their commitment to their current relationship. The study’s findings showed that women with higher levels of estradiol had higher standards when it came to choosing a partner, were more difficult to satisfy and more likely to “trade up” to a higher standard of partner if the opportunity arose.
