A Bunch of People Think This Video is Awesome

I despise shootouts in hockey. They seem like a half-assed skills competition used to hand out a charity point at the end of a hard fought game. But if you’re into that sort of thing, here’s a goal that critics are calling one of the most creative they’ve ever seen.

Executed by a 22-year-old Latvian member of the Hamilton Bulldogs (of the AHL), this unusual deke has become somewhat of an internet sensation amongst people who feel that five minutes of sudden death overtime is more than enough in regular season play.

The video is captured by a woman in attendance, as the event was not televised due to the fact that it was an AHL game between two teams nobody in America has ever heard of. (Plus ESPN didn’t want to interrupt their nine consecutive hours of midday poker coverage.)

Enjoy.
