Hugh Jackman to Host the Academy Awards

bynathanbloch   December 12, 2008 at 2:09PM  |  Views:  |  Comment

So it looks like Wolverine, I mean Hugh Jackman, is going to get his claws into the 81st Academy Awards as the host this year. The man is clearly talented, having forged a successful acting career on both the stage and the silver screen. He's also no stranger to playing the host for big awards ceremonies: he actually won an Emmy for the job he did hosting the Tony Awards in 2005.

So what are your thoughts? Would you prefer someone who's better at crafting jokes, like, say, Jon Stewart again? Or are you pleased that they're actually picking someone who, you know, makes movies every now and then?

Jackman certainly has enough charisma to make his way through the Oscars, even if he's not Steve Martin or Billy Crystal. But you can't argue with the fact that he's a huge improvement over Ellen DeGeneres. I mean, for real, though.
